JR Kyushu Passes
About
The Kyushu Rail Pass is valid for travel on JR Kyushu trains for a period of 3/5/7 consecutive days, either throughout all of Kyushu, Northern or Southern Kyushu ,depending on the pass selected. Kyushu Rail Pass holders will especially look forward to boarding the Kyushu Shinkansen Tsubame, the pride of JR Kyushu, and the Sonic, a limited express train, as often as they like while the pass is valid. Kyushu has many sightseeing destinations, such as Beppu’s hot spring resorts, Mt. Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture , and Sakurajima in Kagoshima.
Kyushu Rail pass can be categorized into the following:
- The All Kyushu Area Pass is available for travel throughout the Kyushu area. You can choose 3 or 5 or 7 consecutive days to travel. Explore Kyushu and its many sightseeing destinations such as Hakata, Miyazaki, Saga, Kokura and many more.
- The Northern Kyushu Pass (3/5 days) is available for travel throughout the North of Kyushu area. Explore Northern Kyushu and its many sightseeing destinations such as Fukuoka, Oita, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Saga and many more.
- The Southern Kyushu Pass (3 days) is available for travel throughout the South of Kyushu area. Explore Southern Kyushu and its many sightseeing destinations such as Oita, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, Kagoshima.
Destinations
The Kyushu Rail Pass is filed as pseudo trains/flights between XZJ (Rail) and XZP (Pass).
- All Kyushu Area Pass covers travel across Northern Kyushu, Southern Kyushu, or the entire region depending upon your pass. Applicable trains within the area, including Shimonoseki, include Local Trains, Limited Express Trains, the Kyushu Shinkansen (Hakata – Kagoshima-chuo), and the Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen (Takeo-onsen – Nagasaki).
- Northern Kyushu Pass covers travel across the north region. Applicable trains are stated below covering Kumamoto/Misumi and the area north of Oita: Local Trains, Limited Express Trains, Kyushu Shinkansen (Hakata – Kumamoto), and Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen (Takeo-onsen – Nagasaki).
- Southern Kyushu Pass covers travel across the South of Kyushu area. Applicable trains are stated below covering Kumamoto and the area south of Oita: Local Trains, Limited Express Trains, and Kyushu Shinkansen (Kumamoto – Kagoshima-chuo).

Eligibility
- You must be a foreign tourist residing outside of Japan.
- You need to show your valid passport upon purchase and during travel.
- Please kindly make sure that the passenger’s name matches the name on the passport.

- 9992 – 3 Days All Kyushu Area Pass

Note: Use of Green Car (superior class) is allowed but subject to an additional charge in Japan.
Discounts
- Children 6-11 pay a reduced rate. Children under 6 ride free if no seat is required.
Groups
- No group bookings allowed. Up to 99 passengers with unique names can be issued on the same PNR

SSR CTCE
When issuing on 9B/450 plate please use “ SSR CTCE” format at the booking time in order to communicate PAX email address to 9B so that 9B could send an email 72 hours to departure reminding passenger about compulsory check-in on accesrail.com.
Refunds
- Please check tariff rules for details and contact point of sale for refunds.
- Refunds can be applied to e-vouchers that have not been exchanged, with a 15% penalty applied.
- Exchanged electronic vouchers are 100% non-refundable.
- Once usage begins, the validity period cannot be extended, and no refunds will be issued for suspended or delayed services.
- JR Kyushu is not responsible for additional costs due to route changes or alternate transportation needs.
Check-in
Earliest 72 hours before train departure, the passenger will have to check-in at www.accesrail.com to retrieve the Kyushu voucher. A paper copy of the ticket or mobile version must be present for the exchange. When the voucher is redeemed for the actual JR KYUSHU PASS, the passenger will need to select a start date no further than 1 month from the date of Exchange in Japan. The pass can then be used for 3/5/7 days continuously as per your pass from the selected start date. Date changes are not permitted.
Precautions for Exchange:
- Present both the voucher and your passport when collecting the JR KYUSHU PASS in Japan. A passport copy is not acceptable.
- Specify the starting date when exchanging the pass; it must be within one month of the exchange date. This starting date cannot be changed once the pass is issued.
- You cannot issue the same type of pass if validity periods overlap. Choose a starting date that avoids overlap.
- If you do not meet the eligibility requirements, you cannot exchange passes even with an e-voucher. Contact the travel agency for refunds.
Precautions After Exchange:
- Use the automatic ticket gates.
- If the pass is lost, it cannot be reissued, even with a record or copy of the e-voucher.
- Traveling outside the designated area or using non-covered facilities will incur additional charges.
How to exchange your e-voucher?
- Upon entering Japan, ensure you obtain proof of “temporary visitor” status with a stamp or seal on your passport. If you use an automated gate during entry, please inform the airport staff and request a certificate with the necessary stamp or seal for your passport.
- The e-voucher is valid for 3 months from the date of the issue.
- You can exchange your e-voucher for the pass at the following stations: Hakata, Kokura, Mojiko, Saga, Nagasaki, Sasebo, Beppu, Oita, Kumamoto, Kagoshima-chuo, Miyazaki, Miyazaki Airport
- Business hours of the ticketing counter are as follows:
- Hakata Station: Operating Hours: 7:00 – 22:00 (7 days a week)
- Fukuoka Airport JR Kyushu Rail Pass Exchange Counter: Operating Hours: 9:00 – 17:00 (7 days a week)
* The counter only provides redemption service for customers who have purchased exchange voucher for JR Kyushu Rail Pass from a travel agency or at JR KYUSHU RAIL PASS Online Booking website and for customers who need to get the tickets for reserved seats.

Seat reservations
This pass does not guarantee the bearer a seat. Seat reservations may be made at JR Kyushu Travel Service Center.
Airport Transfers
From Fukuoka Airport:
- In order to obtain their JR Kyushu Pass, passengers are asked to make their way to the Hakata Central Station and go to the JR Kyushu Travel Office.
- Transit time is roughly 10 minutes by metro or taxi.
Notes:
- The pass cannot be used for JR Kyushu buses,B&S Miyazaki buses, the Cruise Train Seven Stars in Kyushu and the ARU RESSHA(Sweet Train).
- The pass is only good within the JR Kyushu service area even though there may be some lines in Kyushu operated by other companies.
- GALA Yuzawa Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen line can only be used when Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort is open.
- Use of Green Cars is subject to an additional fee. Passes do not authorize holder access to the private room/compartment of any Green Car.
- Reserved and non-reserved seats for all Shinkansen (Mizuho, Sakura and Tsubame), Limited Express Trains within the designated covered area.
- The pass cannot be used for the portion between Hakata and Kokura.
